Wormhole Physics

Hypothetical shortcuts in spacetime.

Wormhole physics explores the Einstein-Rosen Bridge, a topological feature of spacetime that functions as a tunnel between two distant regions. First derived from the General Relativity equations, these structures represent a solution where two Schwarzschild black holes are joined at their event horizons. In modern theoretical physics, the focus is on Traversable Wormholes (Morris-Thorne wormholes), which would allow matter and information to pass through without being crushed by gravitational singularities. This requires the presence of Exotic Matter to provide 'negative pressure' to keep the throat open.

🧒 Explain Like I'm 5

Imagine an ant crawling on a flat piece of paper. To get to the other side, it has to walk across. But if you fold the paper in half and poke a hole through it, the ant can travel through the hole and reach the other side instantly. That hole is a wormhole.

## The Throat Stability Problem
1. Exotic Matter: Must counteract the massive gravitational pull toward the center.
2. Tidal Forces: Why Schwarzschild wormholes are lethal vs. Morris-Thorne wormholes.
3. Causality: The risk of creating a time-loop (Grandfather Paradox).
