Concurrency: Definition, How it Works, and Key Concepts
Concurrency is the ability of different program parts to execute out-of-order or in parallel, making progress independently.
Concurrency in computing enables a system to handle multiple tasks or processes in a way that appears simultaneous. Tasks can execute in an interleaved fashion, rather than strictly sequentially, allowing each to make progress independently. This leads to improved system responsiveness and resource utilization.
