MEV, czyli Miner Extractable Value, reprezentuje zysk, jaki górnik może osiągnąć, manipulując kolejnością transakcji w bloku.
MEV wynika z możliwości górników (lub walidatorów w systemach Proof-of-Stake) do zmiany kolejności, wstawiania lub cenzurowania transakcji w bloku. Pozwala im to na czerpanie korzyści z takich możliwości jak arbitraż, front-running i sandwich attacks. Wyekstrahowana wartość to różnica między ceną, po której górnik kupuje aktywo, a ceną, po której je sprzedaje, lub zysk uzyskany poprzez wykorzystanie asymetrii informacji.
